Randi Hedin is currently Chief Operating Officer of GMP Proprietary Trading LLC, a proprietary bond trading firm, where she oversees legal, exchange and tax matters. Hedin began her career as a corporate and securities lawyer and served as a partner with Kelley Drye & Warren LLP in New York and Connecticut. In addition to her professional career, for over 25 years Hedin has served on a variety of nonprofit boards leveraging her legal experience. Hedin joined Heifer's Board in 2017 and is currently the Board Chair. Over the years, Hedin has focused her efforts with Heifer by supporting smallholder farmers, including women entrepreneurs and community leaders, to achieve a living income.
Hedin teaches a Global Development Law and Policy course in the Sustainable International Development Law LL.M. program at the University of Washington School of Law, where she graduated in 2014. As part of her course, she has enabled student partnerships with a variety of INGOs, including Heifer, to expose students to the breadth and depth of INGO work around the world. In 2021, Hedin received her M.A. in International Studies at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at UW, where she focused on international development policy and management. Hedin received a B.A. from Barnard College and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
As a member of buildOn’s National Board of Directors since 2009, Hedin has helped to build primary schools in Mali, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Nepal, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. She serves as Chair of the Governance Committee. Hedin is also an active member of Global Washington, a nongovernmental organization committed to improving lives around the globe by strengthening the vibrant global development community in the state of Washington. In addition, she is a member of the World Affairs Council, a Seattle-based organization that fosters a dialogue about critical global issues.
