American farming is at a crossroads. Farmers are one of the biggest drivers of our economy, but only 41 percent of our small farmers turn a profit each year.
That’s why we’re working to encourage a new generation of farmers who are taking care of each other and taking care of the land. Your gift to Support A Farmer will help give families the tools to run successful farms. This will provide more healthy food for our country and strengthen America’s heartland communities.
You’ll help farmers like Kerry — she and her husband Josh joined the Heifer-supported Grass Roots Farmers’ Cooperative in 2014. Heifer and Grass Roots have supported more than 2,500 U.S. farming families to help build small-scale, sustainable produce and livestock businesses. “We raised 1,200 chickens in 2014, in 2015 we moved up to 5,000. This year, we’re set to do 21,000,” she said.
You can help change the landscape for farmers in this country and all over the world. When you choose to Support A Farmer, you’re helping create a new generation of successful farmers so all of us can have healthy food.
All gifts to Heifer International are tax deductible. A portion of donations are used to raise awareness about the issues of hunger and poverty through education.
