Many mark the beginning of a new year by making resolutions, setting goals and starting with a fresh outlook for the 12 months ahead. We're doing the same, except our outlook is a tad longer.
We have set a goal to help 4 million families in the next five years secure an annual livable wage to live resilient, self-reliant lives. That means these families will achieve a level of income that allows them to educate their children—including their girls—feed themselves adequately across every month of the year and maintain proper housing, water, hygiene, etc.
We know that we can't do this alone. It's a lofty goal and one that will take like-minded organizations and individuals determined to see an end to hunger join our ranks.
Begin your new year with a commitment to make the world a better and more prosperous place for another in need. There are a number of ways you can help the cause. Consider making a monthly gift through our Friends of Heifer program. Take your classes to a Heifer Learning Center, or get your congregation involved with our faith programs.
We believe the work we're doing with small-scale farmers can transform communities and eventually the world. But we know it will take each one of us to make a real difference. When we work together, we have power over poverty.
