A delegation of bloggers and others who are influential in social media has just returned from a trip to Malawi, where they were introduced to the work of Heifer International and other organizations working in the east African country. The bloggers, along with representatives from Heifer and the ONE Campaign, traveled to a number of sites, including to some Heifer project sites where they met some of the smallholder farmers who have benefitted from a gift of livestock and training.
Included on the trip were:
Heather Barmore, a blogger over at No Pasa Nada, and who already has one post up about the trip.
Rachel Faucet, who writes at Handmade Charlotte.
Ana Flores, who created and blogs at Latina Bloggers Connect.
Ellen McGirt is a writer and journalist, known mostly for her work in Fast Company.
Jane Maynard over at This Week for Dinner has some photos up from Malawi.
Karen Walrond, who is right now recapping the trip at Chookooloonks.
Meredith Walker, a producer and founder of Amy Poehler's Smart Girls.
Wendi Aarons, a humor writer and blogger who has just shared one of the many songs that greeted the group at their stops.
We hope that each came away from the week-long trip with at least a better understanding of our work, and you can check out what they're saying about Malawi, about small-scale farming, about the women who are growing the world's food, and about all the other amazing things they saw in the links above. We will also be sharing reflections and thoughts from our staff who were on the trip, so be sure to check back here for more from them.
