Heifer Again Participating in Live Below the Line Campaign

We are excited to participate in Live Below the Line in 2015, to help raise funds and awareness for the universal goal of ending poverty and restoring dignity for all. Please join us in this year’s campaign. Whether you take the pledge to Live Below the Line this year, or simply chose to donate to our page, we challenge you to think way above the extreme poverty line, because $1.51 per day is still an unacceptable way to live.

As you may know, we have an ambitious new goal: by 2020, we will have helped 4 million families, who currently experience extreme hunger and poverty, secure an annual livable wage to live resilient, self-reliant lives.

We will help these families earn well beyond $1.50 per day, per person, to a regionally defined income that allows them to

  • Feed themselves adequately every month of the year
  • Educate their children, including the girls
  • Have proper housing, water, hygiene, etc.

We believe in the power of the world’s 600 million small-scale farmers and herders to sustainably feed our growing population. But for this to be a reality, we must help those with whom we work live lives of dignity, earning enough income to meet their needs and secure their futures.

“I participated in Live Below the Line last year, and I look forward to participating again this year,” said Heifer International President and CEO Pierre Ferrari. “It was an eye-opening challenge that gave me a glimpse of what it might be like for our participants, who must go about their days on fewer calories than they really need.”

We hope you will join us in this year’s Live Below the Line campaign to raise much-needed funds and awareness for our cause. It’s only together that we have power over hunger and poverty.
