LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 2, 2012) Beginning May 4, 2013 and lasting through the summer, children and their parents can enjoy a new activity every week at Heifer Village in downtown Little Rock. Each Tuesday and Saturday at 11:00 a.m., the Murphy Keller Learning Center (Heifer Village) will host Heifer Hour featuring a craft, game, childrens book or outdoor activity to help teach kids about caring for the Earth and for other people.
For the first Heifer Hour on May 4, Heifer Village staff will lead a reading of The Chicken and the Worm, a story of friendship and innovation with warm, colorful illustrations. Children and their parents will then visit the learning centers garden to learn how creatures big and small help us grow food. Activities in the series are geared for children in grades K-5 and all materials are provided by Heifer Village.
Families can attend Heifer Hour without a reservation each Tuesday and Saturday from May through August at no cost. For more information, call 501-907-COWS or visit the Heifer Village Events Schedule for the list of programs.
Heifer Village
Heifer Village, a key component of Heifer Internationals education programming, introduces visitors to the possibility of a world free of hunger and poverty. After experiencing the root causes of hunger and poverty as well as some real solutions, visitors learn about individual actions they can take in their own communities, resources they can utilize to learn more about specific topics and groups they can join that are already engaged.
