Heifer International Celebrates ‘Feast in the Field’

Friday will mark the 4th annual “Beyond Hunger: Feast in the Field” fundraiser benefiting Heifer projects right here in Arkansas. The event will take place on grounds of Heifer Village, behind Heifer International headquarters, 1 World Ave., and the reception to begin at 6:30 p.m. Mallory Brooks and David Bazzel will be the emcees, and guests will be treated to music by The GroanUps. Those in attendance will also hear from Melanie Ward, an Arkansas farmer and the board chair of the Heifer-supported Grass Roots Farmers’ Cooperative.

Guests are encouraged to wear all-white, dress-casual attire. The outdoor evening will feature a locally sourced, family style dinner. In keeping with Heifer International’s mission of caring for the Earth, Feast in the Field will be a “zero-waste” event, using only reusable, recycled or compostable products.

The “zero-waste” initiative is aided by Urban Food Loop, a Little Rock-based business that offers residential and business composting services. Recently, The Urban Food Loop relocated to Heifer International’s campus and is helping transform a vacant lot into a farm that supports individuals, businesses and the Arkansas Food Bank. With the Heifer International partnership, The Urban Food Loop will be able service up to 200 new Central Arkansas customers. To learn more, please visit www.theurbanfoodloop.com.
