Go Beyond Hunger with Heifer International on #Giving Tuesday

We’ve all heard the adage “It is better to give than to receive,” and today is our day to turn those words into action. #GivingTuesday is a collaborative movement to create a national day of giving. And we've long considered the holiday season a time for giving back.

Our buying power has the potential to affect serious change in the world and alleviate hunger and poverty. So this year, give back. By working together on #GivingTuesday we can provide the tools that empower small-scale farmers to feed their families, unite their communities, transform their economies and improve their futures.

“I’ve seen the people we work with that have faced the deepest difficulties that can be imagined, and they are able to tap in to energy, resources and a hopefulness that was hard to know was there. The gift they give us is that humanity is resilient,” said Pierre Ferrari, Heifer International’s president and CEO.

Over the last 70 years, we have given more than 22 million families the gift of livestock and training to help lift themselves out of poverty. Each family then passes on the offspring of that animal they received, thereby transforming entire communities. It’s called Passing on the Gift®, and it’s the hallmark of our development model.

Last year, Giving Tuesday donations across the board amounted to more than $19 million, almost double the first year of Giving Tuesday. Please join us by lending your voice and help others by giving back on this #GivingTuesday.
