Global Impact has named Heifer International its Charity of the Week from December 2 through 8. All week, Global Impact will feature Heifer International on its website, Facebook page and Twitter feed. Global Impact is sharing photos, success stories and other interesting information from Heifer International’s global programs.
“We are proud to announce Heifer International as our Charity of the Week,” said Global Impact President and CEO Scott Jackson. “Heifer is doing amazing work to help end hunger and poverty throughout the world.”
Each week, Global Impact features a different charity partner from its alliance of more than 80 U.S.-based international charities. The initiative is intended to put a spotlight on the critically important work being done by these amazing organizations around the world. Working in more than 30 countries, Heifer provides livestock and environmentally-sound agricultural training to improve the lives of those who struggle daily for reliable sources of food and income. Heifer International has been a member of the Global Impact Charity Alliance for more than 30 years.
“Global Impact does a phenomenal job connecting donors to causes, and we are honored to be chosen as their Charity of the Week. As we go into the giving season, we must remember the people in the world who need us most: the poor and the hungry,” said Pierre Ferrari, President and CEO of Heifer International.
Over the last 70 years, Heifer International has given more than 20.7 million families a hand up, not a hand out, with gifts of livestock and training. Each family then passes on the offspring of the animal they received, thereby transforming entire communities. It’s called Passing on the Gift®, and it’s the hallmark of their development model.
Global Impact raises funds to meet critical humanitarian needs around the world. In partnership with nearly 100 major corporations and more than 300 public sector entities, Global Impact provides funding to more than 80 U.S.-based international charities through innovative partnerships and employee giving programs. The organization also provides advisory services and solutions to meet the unique giving needs of organizations and donors. Global Impact serves as the secretariat of the Global Health Council and the Hilton Humanitarian Prize Laureates Collaborative, as well as administrator for one of the world’s largest workplace giving campaigns, the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas. Since 1956, Global Impact has generated more than $1.6 billion to help the world’s most vulnerable people.
